If you need to translate documents created with graphic design software (for example, marketing materials), then the layout service should be an integral part of your project.
This solution consists of two stages: pre-processing and post-processing.
Pre-processing takes place before translation. At this point, the document is being prepared for the translation step. The DTP specialist checks the document file type, non-translatable elements (example, text on pictures), etc. He prepares instructions for linguists and extracts the text from images.
When all steps in the translation workflow are finished, the post-processing stage begins. Now the DTP specialist checks that all blocks and elements are present in the document and translated, that none of the text overlaps other blocks and that there are no omissions.
Layout services ensure that the translated document has an identical format to the original.
We will ask you to provide us with the original file format because pdf is an exported format and our DTP specialist will not be able to prepare the file for the translation workflow.
There are several differences: 1) these services are used for different types of files: DTP deals with documents created with graphic design software; OCR – with pictures & non-editable PDFs; 2) OCR & DTP specialists have different skills and use different software.
p>OCR also consists of 2 stages: pre-processing and post-processing.
During the pre-processing stage, the OCR specialist converts the uneditable file into an editable format and manually types the text omitted by the software, for example, handwritten text or stamps. Then the document passes to the translation department.
When the translation workflow is over, the document enters the post-processing stage. The specialist checks that the translated document corresponds to the original, and that none of the texts were omitted.
